| our 2005 50cc vivacity has a gurtner carb fitted does anyone know where you can buy the tapered metering needle from and also the slide, having problems with it cutting whilst waiting at trffic lights out so tried screwing in the idle screw but the revs didn't change after a strip down I have found the tapered needle has become parallel at the bottom this is why the idle screw isn't making any difference,I have now fitted another carb and its running fine now but I want to rebuild the old carb.

I wouldn't bother mate, for a genuine one it cost me £34.99 for just the needle_________________ rubbing is racing son, rubbing is racing |

looking at online parts page the needle with slide is £38.88 plus post, where a complete carb is £115.25 and that comes with the autochoke unit as well http://www.peugeotscooterspares.co.uk/spares/epc2.asp?PageiD=T5&modelID=7642
looking at your picture the idle screw should not touch the needle,it should alter the slide as that is what alters the idle speed not the needle

right now I hope someone will take it and set fire to it as I am getting really p I s s e d off with the vivacity,I have worked on it constantly since wednesday evening.
on wednesday it wouldn't start so we decided to change the engine in the freezing cold and dark finished it about 20.45 kath went for a test ride on it and it cut out and tonight I had to go to her works and it took 45 minutes to get it running.
things I have done
changed the engine ,engine only done about 500 miles
checked and cleaned the carb
new plug
held plug against metal and cranked engine plug fires
compression test read 150psi
changed cdi
checked the fuel filter in the tank
checked the vacuum pipe and you can feel the suction then feel the suction being lost as the stroke changes from sucking fuel in to burning it
opened the drain on the fuel bowl and fuel comes out
after engine has been run I checked the plug and it is a nice brown / tan in colour
autochoke plunger was sticking fixed this now
when engine runs it sounds sweet
checked head bolts
can any body give me any advice
I though as long as you have fuel , compression and a spark everything should run fine
